My wings were clipped and I have no recollection of my memories. A Vampire greeted me but instead of the expected crippling fear and anxiety a Fae would have towards his kind, I knew he was safe. He can be trusted. He told me that my name was Aeris and that I have been unconscious for a year. Our kind have been natural enemies and yet there was something comforting about him, stirring something deep and forbidden within me.Excerpt:His head hung low and he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling audibly. When he looked up once more, the red hue in his eyes was slowly turning back to his usual dark color. A gentle smile formed on his lips and it was only then that I realized that it was the first time I had seen him smile ever since I woke up.It was a smile that would make any woman’s heart sings with happiness.“You had left me for too long that I forgot how to restraint myself around you,” he caressed my cheek reverently and his gaze looked upon me adoringly, leaving a cold trail of goose bump wherever he touched me.“How long have I been out?” I asked while he efficiently unbuttoned his vest with just a few flicks of his wrists. It landed on the floor, just a mere inches away from the previous fur coat and soon he started undoing his shirt.“A year,” he replied, his intense gaze never once left me. He had such a beautiful face but my eyes were drawn to a slim diagonal scar, a few inches wide that was right under his ribcage. It had faded to a pale color and would have remained unnoticeable if I wasn’t this close to him. “I may be more than a hundred years old but that was the longest year I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
